Pray for my girl
cousin Venkatachalam Salem
PUBLIC VERSION
.
On Ramzan day, i.e. 05.06.2019, I went to see one of my girl cousin, Senthamarai Sivakumar (name changed) living at Gugai, Salem (place changed).
She is aged around 73 years. She is one of the loving maternal girl cousins. She has 4 sisters and 2 brothers. Her husband is a retired teacher of an unique CERAMIC INSTITUTE. He had also got an all India award as a best teacher.
It seems for more than one month she is under treatment for kidneys failure. I was glad to see her walking today. She and her husband were all praises for a their doctor, NOOR MOHAMED of Ammapet Palani Andi Hospital. Salem.
Most of my maternal aunties used to show extreme love and affection to us whenever we visited their houses. Always they used to call us using the pleasing Tamil word 'KANNU". Any conversation with them for a few minutes will have a few dozen "KANNUs" embedded in the sentences.
I used to ruminate how in the Tamil customs they had devised this word "KANNU" knowing that the precious part in our human body is our eyes.
It was her brother Mr. Ravichandran (name changed) who meticulously searched and arranged a bride for me and got me married in 1991.
After a few minutes of eating snacks she said in a depressed voice.
"I don't know how many days I am going to live with frequent DIALYSIS. I will be glad if God calls me quickly like my younger sister
Karpaga valli "
It was a poignant situation. In fact, the death of her Bangalore sister Karpaga valli (name changed) 2 years ago, was so smooth or God gifted.
Karpaga valli sister was returning from Salem to Bangalore in a car. On the way she past away in the car without any obvious symptoms. Of course, she was "lucky" to die so simple we should say. It was painful to hear my cousin, Senthamarai Sivakumar talking very depressed.
Suddenly, I broke in the conversation and said, "Yes sister, what you are telling is true. Your younger sister, Karpaga valli 's death was God's gift. But everyone is not lucky enough for that".
Then I added that even my dad was lucky. He died in his sleep. And further in spite of his controversial life, he died on VAIGUNDA EGATHASI. This is a "good day" to die for a Hindu, they say.
Immediately the atmosphere changed. She started praising my dad for his good deeds. She told me that he used to get her new dresses when she visited our house in her school holidays.
It seems they had opened a blood vessel, vein near her neck for doing DIALYSIS. Since, veins were not visible in her hands, doctors had advised her to be keep on doing an exercise with a fingers using a spring attached plastic clip. I could understand that if veins in her hands become visible, DIALYSIS will be comparatively easier. And she may not develop further complications.
I requested her to hear music often. It will soothe her mind and body.
We may meet her again after 3 or 4 weeks.
PAINFUL TO KNOW THAT GOD IS APPROACHING ONE OF MY COUSINS.
OF COURSE, HE IS OMNIPOTENT,
NOBODY CAN STOP HIM.
HOWEVER, I WAS GLAD TO AT LEAST CHANGE THE GLOOMY MOOD OF MY AILING COUSIN FOR AN HOUR OR MORE.
PRAY FOR HER PEACEFUL LAST MONTHS
OR DAYS OR EVEN MORE.
Ezhilarasan Venkatachalam
Salem.
