Around April 2019, I went to the Salem Old Bus Stand area to the Head Post Office to assist my mother. Our work was not completed immediately.
And we were asked to wait. We had lunch at nearby hotel and waited for 3 to 4 hours. After having my lunch, I had to attend my nature's call. In the hot sun, I walked quite a long distance locating the urinal. It was the first time I went to that area after a long time. The old bus stand was demolished and a temporary one was functioning in the BOSE MAIDAN.
On the way, walking through the bus stand, I found an uncompleted newly constructed brick steps damaged. It was still wet with cement mixture and had been stepped over. A few whole and broken bricks were scattered nearby. Since it was on the pathway, anyone who accidentally steps over them will have his ankle sprained. I got concerned about it.
There were hundreds of people hurriedly crossing over the pathway. But nobody ever stopped to clear it.
On my way back, I placed my walking stick a bit far away from the broken steps and started picking the scattered bricks. The wet cement mixture was trying to bruise my soft fingers. However, I continued to take one by one and placed it aside. After carefully picking it from the floor, I walked slowly and with difficulty without using my walking stick. In about 2 or 3 minutes, I think I cleared 90% of the area. May be I would have shifted about 7 or 8 bricks. Then I started moving away from that place.
About fifty to hundred people would have noticed me doing this job will great physical efforts. But none bothered to join me and that is mentality of Salem people. Anyway, I know that the ALMIGHTY is watching me and HE will "ALLOT MARKS" for my job in HIS LEDGER.
After completing this job, I told a ten year old boy who was all along watching me amusingly and amazingly, what I had been doing. "You need not go to orphanages or old age homes to do social service, this is also a SOCIAL SERVICE. "
I don't know whether he understood what I told or not. However, I was happy that I did a good job that day, in spite of my challenging health and the scorching sun.
Thanks Amarlal for provoking me to write this.

He was telling him that we should be socially more responsible. And try to save the injured persons and not photograph them and send it in WhatsApp or post it in facebook.
It was a good message. This video triggered me to write something related to this subject.
