Attending Aekalaivan's meeting at Salem magilvoor mandram / Trust Venkatachalam Salem

It was a great experience attending the function in which my DIFFERENTLY ABLED friend Aekalaivan gave a special speech at RISHI HALL, Maravaneri, Salem 7.

It was organized by Dr. Selvarangam and SALEM MAGHILVOOR MANDRAM. (Salem Happiness Club).

Are you a "murram"  or "jalladai" ?
நீங்கள் முறமா ... ஜல்லடையா ? [கீழே]

My younger daughter dropped me at the venue. I was the first person to enter the hall around 5.55pm. It was great to see a few Thirukural books welcoming me at the entrance. There were also a few copies of Aekalaivan's book.

Everyone who attended the meeting was insisted to talk, even the kids introduced themselves and did some simple performance. I was so overwhelmed with emotions that I was not able to speak coherently when the mic was given to me.

Many people used to call doctors as noble persons who save the lives of others. But first time I saw a doctor smiling all along and running around like a teenager. And I could find that he was "prescribing happiness" to all in every act he did. It is fit that he had founded and is heading an association that wants to "IMPLANT HAPPINESS" in the hearts of people and spread it to others.
Recently I posted a scientific article in my blog regarding this. It said that even if you watch your own face in the mirror and make a fake smile for ten minutes, then lot of good hormones will secrete in your body. 
When Dr. Selva rangam said that he was standing in one leg for the whole duration of the speech of Aekalaivan, I could not believe it. Great thought ! No doubt, I became his fan !

 People generally go to temple to shave their head clean or roll on the floor to fulfil their sangalpaa or the sacred wish.

But here a good soul wants to stand in one leg as a self imposed sangalpaa to honour my friend, Aekalaivan.  Great sangalpaa, hats off doctor !! 

Aekalaivan had been standing, running and climbing all these 44 years, with just one leg and a crutch and unimaginable enthusiasm !

I hope through him and the new contacts I will be able to give my English knowledge free of cost to the needy and enrich their lives.

AEKALAIVAN spoke on many things. But he started his speech by asking us to be a "murram" or winnow that "throws away" the husk and unwanted things and not to be a "jalladai" or sieve that "holds back" only the dirt and waste.

His operation at the G.H. immediately after his accident.

He also elaborated how he escaped 3 times from death. He told at the age of 14 years he was run over by a train at Chennai and lay there in the track for hours. Only after 5 or 6 hours he was taken to the GH. He told us in a touching voice that was filled with emotions that in the ward all the unknown people, including the patients, took excellent care of him that day. Then an operation will have to be done to save his life. But Aekalaivan, as a young boy was uncooperative and refused for it. 

The doctor asked his name and understood he is a Muslim. Then the doctor went to the nearby mosque and brought in an aged person to the hospital. Doctor lied to Aekalaivan and said that his uncle had come and finally made Aekalaivan agree for the operation. However, that Muslim old man was out of sight of Aekalaivan and he said he could only hear his voice. He was urgently brought in by the doctor to save his life. 

After telling many things like this Aekalaivan said that he wanted to do something back to the society. And now Aekalaivan is trying his best to elevate the lives of thousands of DIFFERENTLY ABLED persons in Salem District.
