Nobody is eternal Venkatachalam Salem meanderings - A friend worried about his health
.
Diary for public : 21.05.2019 Tuesday.
Friends,
Nobody is eternal, including you and me.
Today morning I called my friend over phone and did an enquiry about his health.
I am very concerned to share with you that he feels that his health is going bad, day after day. He was fumbling with words to communicate to me that he may not live for long. However, I could understand that.
He told that some relatives, may be from out of station, are present today in his house. Hence, we did not talk much.
He is about 7 years elder to me and had a heart attack 3 years or so back. Until a few days back, he was fit and driving a two wheeler.
He would bring his laptop and learn computer typing, in spite of his failing memory -- dementia.
Since, I felt I am indebted to him, I used to meticulously explain, again and again the basic computer operations. I knew that my efforts are going vain. However, I was doing it with utmost sincerity -- like chanting a mantra praising a God.
He also enjoyed my teaching style, patience and chatting a few personal points after the class.
I visited him a few days ago and told a few comforting words.
To repeat, I feel very close to him, for the professional help he rendered to me a few years ago.
Nobody is eternal, including you and me.
When the time comes, we will have to get mingled with nature.
However, when nature is slowly trying to take over a person who means a lot to us, with whom we had interacted often. We feel helpless -- it is a horrible feeling.
We may infer from data available that the person may not survive for even a few weeks or months, but we will have to tell blatant lies to him that
-- ALL IS WELL, AND IT IS ALL A PASSING CLOUD, NOTHING FEARED WILL REALLY HAPPEN. PRETEND OR ACT WITH SINCERITY. FOOL A LOVING PERSON.
OH MY GOD. AWFUL FEELING.
When my dad died, I was at Hosur. But I came to know that he died in his sleep. I recall all people talking that in spite of his controversial life, he died on VAIGUNDA EGATHASI. This is a "good day" to die for a Hindu, they say.
Please pray for a peaceful
last days or months
for my friend.
With a heavy heart,
