Japanese shoe factory strike Venkatachalam Salem

Japanese shoe factory strike Venkatachalam Salem

We often talk about Japanese technology and German technology. But I feel that we have missed to understand how they made it possible.

..

Recently, I saw a video that elaborated on the schooling system in Japan. First they don't send their children very early to school. Then they don't teach the alphabets at the beginning. They teach manners and discipline first. Then they don't force anything into the minds of students. Lot of freedom is given to them to do their work with enjoyment. And creativity in cultivated in a systematic way. Everyone is taught Japanese poetry or haiku in school itself. Teachers are given enough rest hours.

Have you heard of a strike in a Japanese shoe factory?

Let me elaborate. There was some talks going on between the employees and the management of a shoe factory. Both did not agree to the others demand. Hence, a strike was declared.

Do you know how the Japanese conduct a strike ?

Each day Japanese work for about 8 hours [or the required hours] - WITHOUT WASTING A SINGLE MINUTE. All employees will wear black bands or badges indicating that they are on strike. They will assemble at a common place in the factory and shout out their demands for 5 minutes. Then they will go and work as usual.

In the said shoe factory, due to disagreement for about a month, all workers produced only the LEFT SHOES of all models. The management could not send even a single pair of shoes outside the factory. Finally, the management will have to yield to the employees demands. After the talks ended, all the workers produced the RIGHT LEG SHOES. Within a day or two the shoes were despatched out of the factory.

The point to be noted here is that there was no loss of man hours.
No loss of production. There was only "delayed" production.
No government quota went waste.
No breaking of chairs or machinery.

We only admire the perfection in machinery produced by foreign countries.
We should also learn to conduct a strike the Japanese way, without any loss of man hours or materials.

We only enjoy the "fruits" of Japanese system -- their products. We don't pay enough attention about the "seeds".

When are we going to wake up?

OTHER WORKS OF EZHILARASAN VENKATACHALAM   I can’t forget the VIP treatment he gave me in the inauguration function of his new house. Since, I was a physically challenged person, I had difficulty in sitting down on the floor like others and eat.  However, he made me sit in a separate room and made his people serve exclusively for me like a VIP.  It was a great honour for me and could not forget the experience. Very few rich people show such extremely good manners. Meeting Mr.Leo Charles for the first time. I met Mr.Charles for the first time somewhere in 1998 or so in the interview for a computer
